I’d love to ban cars in manhattan with electric self-driving taxis serving as public transit.
It would solve several problems:
1. Overcrowded streets
2. Polution / air quality
3. Access to easy transportation
The self-driving taxis would be super cheap making easy transit available to all.
You could turn most of the street level into parks which would encourage walking and clean up the air further. It would also provide much more space for pedestrians. Obviously there would be some sort of exception for commercial vehicles.
It seems like a win win win.
