Most of you reading this are shocked.
Thats the problem.
We lived in a bubble for the last 2 years.
“Trump could never be elected he’s a bigot.”
“Nobody I know supports him.”
“The media thinks he’s a joke.”
Its as bad as religious fervor.
“Theres no way he has support because liberal values.”
There are two problems with liberal values:
1. Not everyone shares them.
2. They’re not actually rooted in scientific fact.
HRC’s campaign and the media chose the path of ridicule.
Instead of seeking to understand why people support Trump they assumed that they were backwards. That these people were deplorables.
In hindsight, thats an dangerous approach. They dismissed a movement out of hand instead of seeking to understand.
As Stephan Covey put it in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People:
“Seek to understand before being understood.”
