On average, it is a pain as opposed to being a benefit.
The people playing are usually not good. The venue would be better off playing a recording.
Also, its generally loud and disrupts conversation. Which is the point of being in a restaurant. Not to see a show.
I’m talking about live music that you stumble upon when wandering New York City and looking for somewhere to eat.
I’m not talking about live music that you seek out.
If I have a choice between a restaurant with live music and one without, I’ll chose the one without.
