Live music as ambiance in a restaurant is overvalued.

On average, it is a pain as opposed to being a benefit.

The people playing are usually not good. The venue would be better off playing a recording.

Also, its generally loud and disrupts conversation. Which is the point of being in a restaurant. Not to see a show.

I’m talking about live music that you stumble upon when wandering New York City and looking for somewhere to eat.

I’m not talking about live music that you seek out.

If I have a choice between a restaurant with live music and one without, I’ll chose the one without.
